Desu Studio stands on excellent open-source work. This page credits it, as the licenses require and as plain gratitude requires.

Lucida

Ege Orcun · MIT License

The neural network behind Desu Studio's on-device background removal. Lucida is a fine-tune of BiRefNet trained to hold on to the things most cutout models lose — individual strands of hair, glass and other transparent materials, glows, and the counters inside letterforms. Desu Studio runs the WebGPU build published by tomohisa, which restructures the network's graph to fit the constraints of in-browser inference. The model downloads to your device on first use and is cached there; your images never leave your machine.

WebGPU

W3C GPU for the Web Community Group; implemented in your browser by Google's Dawn (Apache License 2.0) and Mozilla's wgpu (MIT / Apache License 2.0)

Desu Studio's renderer is built entirely on WebGPU — every layer, filter, and shader runs through it. Desu Studio doesn't bundle or redistribute Dawn or wgpu; they ship inside your browser and translate Desu Studio's WGSL shaders to your device's native graphics layer (Metal, Vulkan, or Direct3D). Credited here for the work itself, not because anything of theirs is shipped in Desu Studio.

The licenses that ask for their text to travel with the software are reproduced in full on the license texts page. If you believe a credit here is missing or wrong, email support@desustudio.com and we'll fix it.

And one credit outside any license: to my partner, for the never-ending support.
