How Desu Studio handles your data

Desu Studio runs on your device. Your images and projects are never uploaded. We have no cloud storage. That single idea governs everything below.

The short version

You can use the core editor without an account. Everything you make is stored in your browser, on your machine. A free account unlocks a few extra features; if you sign in, we store the basics of who you are and your subscription status. That's the whole list.

What stays on your device

Your projects, images, edit history, shader library, and preferences are stored locally in your browser, using IndexedDB and localStorage. This data never reaches our servers and we cannot see it. The AI background-removal feature also runs entirely in your browser, so your images are not sent anywhere to be processed.

What we store when you sign in

Signing in uses your Google account. From it we receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo. We create an account record that also holds your subscription status. We never see or store a password, because there isn't one.

No cloud storage

Desu Studio currently has no cloud storage. Your images and projects are never uploaded, whether or not you have an account. If we add optional cloud features in the future, this policy will be updated before they launch, and they will be off by default.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy policy, and your card number never touches desustudio.com. We receive only your subscription status.

Services we rely on

Google Sign-In handles authentication only, with the minimal profile scopes.
Supabase hosts our account database and authentication.
Paddle is the merchant of record for payments, billing, and receipts.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't run advertising trackers. We don't train AI models on your images, because we never receive them in the first place.

Your choices and rights

You can use the core editor without creating an account. Some features ask you to sign in with a free account, such as saving projects to your library, unlimited AI background removal, and project-file export. If you have an account, you can delete it yourself from the account menu, and deletion is immediate. Depending on where you live (including under Canada's PIPEDA and the EU's GDPR), you may also have rights to access, correct, or export the personal data we hold. Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Everything else lives on your device, under your control.

Children

Desu Studio is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For material changes, we'll say so in the app before they take effect.
